Q: When is the best time of year to schedule family photos in Appleton?
A: While Wisconsin offers beautiful scenery year round (yes, including winter!), I find that most families are most comfortable scheduling their family photo session in Spring, Summer, and Fall. These seasons provide the most flexibility with outfits and scenery, and that's hard to pass up! Another benefit of scheduling your family photos during the warmer months is getting more versatility in your gallery. From walking trails, parks, ice cream shops, and beyond, we'll be able to highlight the best of what the season has to offer so we can make a few stops during your session.
Q: Can we choose locations that aren't in appleton for our family photos?
A: Absolutely! While Appleton offers plenty of variety for your family photo session, we are surrounded by neighboring cities that also offer lots of great options for backdrops. Neenah is filled with so many wonderful spots that I love to photograph in, for example. Whether you'd like for me to come to your home, family property, or something different, we can absolutely arrange for me to meet you and your family to the location(s) that are special to you.
Q: what do we do if my children misbehave or have a meltdown during family photos?
A: This is a concern that stops so many people from booking their family photos, and while I understand the concerns, let me provide you with some relief - we simply move with the flow of emotions, and it turns out wonderfully! While of course we aim for a bit of posed photos of everyone looking at the camera, I also recommend embracing your children running around wild and goofy, because that's what makes them THEM during this moment in their life. Cart wheels, sticking out their tongues, and even screaming at the top of their lungs are, dare I say, welcomed by me. I'll work with you as parents/guardians to outline your goals of the session and of course respect and help create boundaries for the session, but please know I am beyond comfortable managing the thrills and shrills that kiddos bring.

A: Coordinating outfits may seem challenging at first, but I'm here to help! Most families send me a preview of what they plan to wear ahead of time to ensure that colors/patterns aren't clashing and that everything will look cohesive. I always recommend sticking to neutral colors like white, beige, black, and earth tones like olive green, terracota, khaki, and navy. Sticking to simple yet elegant jewelry and accessories can be such a perfect compliments to the stars of the show, you and your family!
